Heads up. Sega Saturn support is still experimental. It's possible the First Run Script will get a false positive off another disc (or a false negative from a legitimate Saturn disc). Also, it uses the emulator SSF. While SSF is great for emulating the games, I've yet to find its fullscreen command (just double size, not full) and I've noticed that if I quit the emulator by using the Escape button, it will lose my controller configuration settings; so use the menu to quit. Finally, while it's possible to play without a Saturn BIOS, it's not recommended. Good luck finding one or dumping the one from the system you already own.
That out of the way, here we go. First download SSF. Install (manually copy the files; there is no installer) to a folder called SSF in your OpenExtreme folder. In other words, it should look like this. C:\OpenExtreme\SSF\SSF.exe (among other files). Do this and run the program once manually. Here, go to options and select controller and redefine the keys to match your PC controller. Supposedly, the Xbox 360 controller for Windows is all the dev had at the time, so it's supported best. Also, make sure on the screen where you can specify your BIOS file that you specify which optical drive is yours. This is important if you have any virtual drives on your system for any reason.
Once done, use the File Menu to Exit out of the program. Make sure you exit this way every time, or you may lose some settings.
Now, when you drop in a Saturn game disc (CD-R apparently works too), it should automatically be recognized and launch SSF for you, which should automatically launch the game on the disc.
As always, this is open source, so feel free to mod the file locations and reflect those changes in the First Run Script. That's really all there is to it. The First Run Script searches for the existence of three files. All three must be there to be assumed to be a Saturn game. If you come up with a better way of differentiating the Saturn discs from everything else, make the changes, test them out, and let us know in the forum so that I can incorporate your code.
Thanks.
